According to Global Firepower's 2026 ranking China has the world's largest naval fleet with 841 vessels.

Russia follows in second place with 747 vessels, while the United States ranks third with 465.

The gap between Russia and the United States is note worthy. Russia's vessels contains 282 more vessels than the U.S..

This means the U.S., despite maintaining one of the world's most advanced and capable naval forces, does not occupy the top two positions when countries are ranked strictly by the number of vessels in their fleets.

Two African countries make the vessel count list
