When it comes to celebrating another trip around the sun, Toya Johnson goes all out! The entrepreneur and reality television personality took her guests back to college with an epic A Different World-themed birthday bash, and baby, the people were giving!

Just in time for Halloween, Johnson changed her star-studded birthday bash into a nostalgic tribute to the beloved sitcom that gave us Hillman College, iconic fashion moments, and classic characters. From the elaborate decorations to the stylish guests who understood the assignment, the entire affair looked like a scene straight out of the fictional HBCU.

Johnson kicked off her birthday festivities in a classy black mini dress featuring gold embellishments along the neckline, waist, and hem. She accessorized the chic number with a gold handbag, layered waist chains, and black pointed-toe heels. Her long, flowing mane completed the sophisticated look, which she described as serving“classy girl on campus.”

The New Orleans native later switched to a burgundy, football-inspired ensemble featuring a personalized jersey, matching shorts, and sparkling gold fringe along the shoulders. The sporty look fit the Hillman College atmosphere, and Johnson appeared to be having the time of her life as she danced with her guests.

Kandi Burruss, who stepped out in a burgundy-and-gold marching band uniform, complete with a feathered hat, was among the familiar faces celebrating Johnson’s special day, sharing photos from the festivities with the caption, “This birthday was one for the books! Happy birthday again @toyajohnson! You kicked this new year off with a bang! .”

The fashion ranged from collegiate chic to HBCU homecoming realness. Guests rocked varsity jackets, dance-team-inspired ensembles, school colors, statement accessories, and stylish takes on campus fashion. Fashion entrepreneur Claire Sulmers brought fabulous Whitley Gilbert elegance, while others chose HBCU sweatshirts and schoolgirl-inspired looks.
