Ezekiel HOPE, a nonprofit organization that trains individuals in the skilled trades, held its third annual “Training for the Future: Tools of the Trades 3.0” Career Fair and Luncheon at Gather at the Deer District. Each year Ezekiel hosts an event on National Skilled Trades Day to raise awareness about the dire need for skilled workers and to introduce black and brown communities to jobs that pay family-supporting wages. This year’s event also featured Pastor Tony Lowden from Atlanta, GA, as the keynote speaker during the luncheon. Lowden was pastor to former President Jimmy Carter. He gave inspiring words of encouragement and hope to those in attendance, a large share of whom were 18-24 years.
