SURREY Police Service is investigating a serious overnight collision between a TransLink bus and a pedestrian that sent the pedestrian to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On Saturday, July 11 at approximately 9:41 p.m., Surrey Police Service frontline officers responded to a report from BCEHS of a seriously injured pedestrian lying on the roadway at the intersection of 128 Street and 96 Avenue.
Officers located the pedestrian who was receiving emergency medical treatment from BCEHS paramedics. SPS officers also located a TransLink bus and driver at the scene. The pedestrian, an adult man, was transported to hospital for treatment of critical, potentially life-threatening, injuries.
SPS’s Collision Investigation Unit was called in and took over over the investigation. The investigation is in its early stages, and it is unknown what caused the collision between the vehicle and pedestrian. Parts of the intersection were closed for several hours during the night but reopened.
Surrey Police Service is appealing for any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have any information, including dashcam footage, to call Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file 26-72005 (SP).
