Why Meghan Markle’s Stylish Pop-Out at Paris Fashion Week Has Some White Folks Pissed!
Meghan Markle is taking a minute to get into her fashion bag and serve some serious looks for Paris Fashion Week. But not everyone is loving what she's doing! The post Why Meghan Markle’s Stylish Pop-Out at Paris Fashion Week Has Some White Folks Pissed! appeared first on The Root.

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is back in the headlines. Don’t worry though, it’s mostly for something positive…although as we’ll explain…not everyone is happy about it.
If you haven’t been on social media this weekend, you may have missed Markle popping out for Paris Fashion week, specifically to attend the Balenciaga Womenswear Spring/Summer 2026 show. In one of her first looks, the Duchess of Sussex stunned in an all-white ensemble, looking every bit of regal and relaxed at the same time. In a viral clip, the way the shawl flows off her shoulders and the way she glides out of the hotel in her custom Balenciaga outfit really reminded us all that she is royalty.
In a second look, Markle opted to go towards the opposite end of the color spectrum and donned an all-black fit with a slightly elaborate drapery on the front and completed the look with some sky high black pumps. In a second clip, she was seen being escorted from a restaurant and back to hotel but the slay was still apparent.
Given her stunning looks, it’s no wonder why she garnered praise from a lot of Black women online for making a truly dazzling first-ever appearance during Paris Fashion Week.
“i am a completely normal and rational and levelheaded person until meghan markle pops up and then i Go Insane,” wrote one user on X/Twitter.
“We all need to study arts or drama in school. It cultivates imagination , the kind that can be shaped into whatever you are called to become. Just look at Meghan Markle? that’s the elegance, grace and poise born from the art of performance,” said another.
“She is exactly who she thinks she is,” said one user on TikTok.
However, for as many Black women who were happy to see Markle step out, there were seemingly just as many white women who were pissed off about it. From what she wore to allegations that she tried to dress like her husband Prince Harry’s late mother Princess Diana, the juxtaposition between the positive and negative perceptions of Duchess of Sussex was truly shocking.
“If only she was as iconic in reality as she is in her own mind,” wrote one user on TikTok.
“Me. Me. Me. Me. And I have zero talent,” said another.
Other users commented on how the gentleman sitting next to her was seemingly ignoring her attempts at conversation, with one person writing: “She’s trying so hard to let the camera’s see she[sic] talking to him and he’s completely ignoring her and is more interested in the show.”
“Harry finally has some room to breath..I hope he’s enjoying his full day without her,” said another on TikTok.
One user on X/Twitter even went so far to allege Markle was showcasing her “narcissism” with her black outfit, writing: “The public saw your desperate PR attempts to link yourself to Diana, exhibit one; you asked for a similar dress to hers to be made. You posted that video to try evoke her ghost but it backfired. Your obsession screams narcissism.”
However, there were some white women who came to Markle’s defense.
“This hysteria around Meghan Markle is ridiculous. Just remember, y’all are grown adults crying about a woman leaving the house. Meghan Markle haters are so pathetic that it’s not even funny anymore,” wrote one user.
“Beautiful! Hate has no place here,” said another on TikTok.
“Meghan Markle looks beautiful at the Balenciaga show. I know the British media is about to be SICK, because Anna Wintour embraced and complimented her,” wrote another on X/Twitter.
That user would be correct: Just hours after styling and profilin’ in Paris, Markle is now being accused of insensitivity for posting a video of herself riding in a limo — presumably as she bounced from one fashion show to the next — with her feet up and allegedly no seatbelt on.
However, tabloids and commentators from across the pond said that she made the post near the Pont de l’Alma tunnel — the tragic site of Princess Diana’s 1997 fatal crash and called her out for it. However, followup reports countered those initial ones, citing that Markle actually had a different Parisian bridge in her background and nearly a half mile away from the aforementioned tragic site.
All of this just goes to show that whether Markle is making shows for TV or stepping out for a night on the town, her every move will continue to be scrutinized and criticized.
