Yanga claim they are upbeat to retain the Community Shield

ZANZIBAR: YOUNG Africans Head Coach, Manqoba Mngqithi says he believes his team is ready to deliver a strong performance and secure victory against Simba in the Community Shield match to be played tomorrow, August 12, 2026, in Zanzibar.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the highly anticipated fixture, Mngqithi said he has confidence in his players despite having had limited time to prepare and build the squad ahead of the new season.

He said Yanga have players with the quality and experience required to handle pressure in major matches, expressing confidence that they can produce good football against their long-standing rivals.

Mngqithi said that while winning is one of their main objectives, the team also wants to ensure that Yanga supporters enjoy the style of football their side will display on the pitch.

“We are confident because we have a good team and experienced players who can handle any kind of pressure in tomorrow’s match,” Mngqithi said.

Meanwhile, Yanga defender Mohamed Hussein said the players are fully prepared to fight hard as they seek to retain the Community Shield title.

The Community Shield clash between Simba and Yanga will be played tomorrow, August 12, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. at the New Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.

The match is expected to be one of the major fixtures marking the start of the new football season in Tanzania, with both sides looking to begin the campaign with a victory.
