By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police are investigating a shooting in San Ignacio Town that left two people injured, including a 5-year-old boy.
The incident occurred at about 7:40 p.m. on Monday, August 3, on Collins Boulevard. Police responding to the area found 30-year-old Carlton McKoy lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators say McKoy had driven onto Collins Boulevard when occupants of a parked vehicle opened fire on him.
A 5-year-old student, who was walking along nearby Bullet Tree Road with his mother on their way home, was also struck by the gunfire.
Both victims were taken to hospital for treatment. The child was later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City for further medical care.
McKoy and the minor are both listed in stable condition as police continue their investigation.
