Aaron Mai to be endorsed as PUP Mayoral Candidate for San Ignacio and Santa Elena

By Zoila Palma:  Aaron Mai is set to be officially endorsed as the People’s United Party’s (PUP) mayoral candidate for San Ignacio and Santa Elena following the party’s Municipal Convention on Saturday, August 22.

Mai was the only person to submit an application for the mayoral position ahead of the convention.

The convention will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Cayo Centre for Employment Training and will bring together PUP delegates to select the six councilor candidates who will join Mai on the PUP’s municipal slate for the March 2027 elections.

Mai said he was humbled by the confidence placed in him and outlined his vision for the campaign as one centered on service, unity and continued development.

“This is more than a convention. It is the beginning of a new chapter of service, unity, progress, and continued development for the people of San Ignacio and Santa Elena,” he stated.

Following his expected endorsement, Mai will lead the PUP’s municipal team into preparations for the 2027 elections.

He also expressed appreciation to the party’s delegates, supporters and residents of the Twin Towns, saying, “Together, we move forward. Together, we serve. Together, we build a stronger San Ignacio and Santa Elena.”
