Africa Aquatics Zone III Swimming Championships 2026: Meet Uganda’s Coaching Team

Uganda Aquatics has unveiled the coaching team that will guide Team Uganda and Team B at the 2026 Africa Aquatics Zone III Swimming Championships, with preparations for the continental regional meet already underway.

The coaching structure will be led by three residential coaches, headed by Thomas Tamale, who takes charge as Head Coach. He will be assisted by Allan Kiiza, while Hamida Nandawula joins the residential team as the female coach.

The residential trio will be supported by non-residential assistant coaches Achilles Joga, Solomon Okidi and Yowakimu Serwadda, bringing additional experience to the technical team as Uganda prepares to host the championships.

For the Open Water events, Abel Ddamulira has been appointed coach, while the Masters’ team will be led by Kakoza Henry as Head Coach, assisted by Tabitha Nakasinde.

Water Polo will have Kato Embrem and Bakka Amos in charge as Uganda looks to field a strong and well-supported delegation across the different disciplines.

Uganda Aquatics said the coaching structure is based on the current number of selected athletes, with additional volunteer coaches potentially joining the team should the squad numbers increase.

Training camps have already commenced, with the appointed coaches beginning their preparations as Uganda builds towards the Zone III championships on home soil.

The appointment marks an important step in the preparations, placing the athletes under a defined technical structure as they sharpen their skills and chase strong performances at the regional championship.
