Atlanta has long been recognized as one of the incubators of Hip Hop, & Rap Music. A city where music, art, entrepreneurship, and storytelling collide to create something entirely unique. This past weekend, the Atlanta Culture Exchange’s Sound of Trap event served as a powerful reminder of why the city continues to influence culture on a global scale.
Held within the iconic former CNN Center, the immersive experience transformed the beloved downtown landmark into a vibrant celebration of Atlanta’s creative ecosystem.
From visual art and live discussions to local businesses and cultural activations, attendees were invited to experience the many layers that make Atlanta one of the most influential cities in the world.

Upon entering the venue, guests were greeted by an impressive collection of art installations and exhibits curated by some of Atlanta’s most prominent galleries like the renowned Zucot Gallery and the BUCKHEAD gallery along with other creative institutions. The exhibits reflected the city’s rich diversity, highlighting everything from contemporary Black art and photography to mixed-media works that explored Atlanta’s evolving identity.
Beyond the galleries, dozens of local vendors filled the space. We were able to speak with the owner of “Support Black Creatives: Celebrity Publicist and Creative Director Clay West, showcasing products and services that represented the entrepreneurial spirit that has become synonymous with Atlanta culture.
“We have to continue to pour into creatives that serve in a miriad of ways, not just through commerce. So this brand was a major way for me to pour into others, and create something with purpose and longevity”
From fashion designers and artisans to wellness brands and community organizations, the marketplace offered visitors an opportunity to support local businesses while discovering emerging talent.
One of the event’s biggest draws was its lineup of celebrity panels featuring some of Atlanta’s most respected producers, artists, and industry leaders. Zaytoven, Drumma Boy, Jacon York & more! The conversations offered attendees an inside look into the creative process, and the history behind some of the city’s most influential contributions to music, entertainment, and media. Panelists shared stories of perseverance, innovation, and the importance of preserving Atlanta’s cultural legacy while continuing to push boundaries.
“It was CRUNK music first, a lot of people dont know before trap or drill it was CRUNK Music coming from the south, Atlanta made CRUNK music and established it all throughout the world in the early 2000s, THEN from that sound and that kind of swagger, birthed trap music and it evolved to where we are now.”
For many attendees, however, the venue itself became part of the experience. The event provided a rare opportunity to revisit the historic CNN Center, a location that holds decades of memories for Atlanta residents and visitors alike. Once a bustling hub for tourism, media, and civic engagement, the space served as a nostalgic backdrop for an event centered on honoring the city’s past while investing in its future.
What made Sound of Trap particularly special was its ability to bring together multiple generations of creatives under one roof. Established industry veterans mingled alongside emerging artists, students, entrepreneurs, and culture enthusiasts, creating an atmosphere rooted in collaboration and community.
Trinidad James gave an ambiance and a performance remnant of our city’s culture, our hustle and our sound. This was a moment to remember, iit was not just a focus on music , or art, but on the heartbeat of the city. The truest reflection to the spirit of Atlanta.
In a city known for setting trends rather than following them, Atlanta Culture Exchange succeeded in creating more than just an event, it created a cultural gathering spot. Through art, music, dialogue, and entrepreneurship, Sound of Trap captured the soul of Atlanta and reminded attendees why the city remains a driving force in shaping culture across the nation.
As Atlanta continues to evolve, experiences like these ensure that its stories, voices, and creative contributions remain at the forefront. If this year’s event is any indication, the future of Atlanta’s cultural landscape is brighter and louder than ever.
Sheen Magazine was honored to experience a day dedicated to celebrating the creativity, resilience, and innovation that continue to define the heart of Atlanta. Thank you so much to partners like Amazon, City of Atlanta, The Gathering Spot, Zucot Gallery, and all of the artists that participated in this one of a kind experience .
