Austria overcame Jordan 3-1 in Group J of the on-going 2026 FIFA World Cup at the San Francisco Bay Area stadium, Santa Clara.
Romano Christian Schmid, Yazan Al Arab (own goal) and Marko Arnautovic’s penalty gave Austria the maximum points.
Ali Olwan got the consolation goal for Jordan.
Werder Bremen’s Schmid lit up the match with a beautiful curl outside of the goal area.
Yazan scored an own goal. Arnautovic scored a priceless penalty in the last minute of the 10 added after the minute, cementing his status as Austria’s all time goal scorer.
Austria is now second in Group J; behind Argentina who humbled Algeria 3-0 with Lionel Andres Messi scoring a hattrick.
