Amazon Web Services has announced a major expansion of its partnership with OpenAI, introducing a new suite of services that will bring OpenAI’s frontier models and AI agents into the Amazon Bedrock ecosystem for enterprise customers.
The expanded collaboration is designed to give organisations access to advanced AI capabilities while maintaining enterprise-grade security, governance, and operational control. The new offerings are currently available in limited preview and are integrated into AWS infrastructure used by millions of businesses globally.
OpenAI models now available on Amazon Bedrock
As part of the launch, the latest OpenAI models will now be accessible through Amazon Bedrock APIs, allowing customers to deploy them alongside models from other providers such as Anthropic, Meta, Mistral, Cohere, and Amazon. This unified access enables enterprises to manage model selection, security controls, compliance, and cost governance within a single environment.
The integration also supports AWS security features including encryption, identity and access management, private connectivity, and audit logging, enabling organisations to use OpenAI models without changing their existing operational frameworks.
Codex for enterprise software development
The partnership also introduces Codex on Amazon Bedrock, bringing OpenAI’s coding agent into enterprise development environments. The tool allows developers to automate coding tasks, generate tests, refactor code, and accelerate software delivery at scale.
Codex will be accessible through AWS authentication and integrated into tools such as the Codex CLI, desktop application, and Visual Studio Code extension, allowing enterprises to run AI-assisted development within their existing workflows.
Managed AI agents powered by OpenAI
A third offering, Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents powered by OpenAI, enables enterprises to build and deploy production-ready AI agents using OpenAI’s frontier models while leveraging AWS infrastructure. The system is designed to support complex, multi-step tasks with built-in identity, memory, logging, and governance capabilities.
Amazon Web Services said the solution simplifies the deployment of agent-based AI systems by combining OpenAI’s reasoning capabilities with AWS’s scalable infrastructure and security frameworks.
Enterprise adoption and ecosystem expansion
Enterprise software company Box highlighted the significance of the collaboration, noting that organisations are increasingly seeking to deploy AI agents that can operate at scale while maintaining strong governance, auditability, and security standards.
AWS said the integration with OpenAI reflects a broader strategy to provide customers with flexible access to leading AI models within a single cloud environment, reducing complexity while enabling advanced AI adoption.
Outlook
The companies described the launch as the beginning of a deeper collaboration aimed at continuously delivering new AI capabilities through Amazon Bedrock. Future updates are expected to bring additional OpenAI advancements in reasoning and agentic systems directly into AWS infrastructure as the technology evolves.
