By Zoila Palma: Students of the Belize Coast Guard’s Petty Officer Class Three Course 01/2026 stepped outside the classroom to give back to the community through a service initiative at Pancotto Primary School in Sandhill Village.
As the school prepares to welcome students for the new academic year, the Coast Guard sailors assisted with painting and other improvements aimed at creating a better environment for students and staff.
The initiative forms part of the Coast Guard’s leadership development efforts, emphasizing teamwork, civic responsibility and service to others. The organization said the activity reinforces the understanding that service to country extends beyond maritime duties and into the communities it serves.
The Belize Coast Guard recognized its Training and Doctrine Command for incorporating community service into the professional development of sailors, while commending the course staff and students for putting the organization’s values into action.
