By Zoila Palma: Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement expressing condolences to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Al Thani family, the Government, and the people of the State of Qatar on the passing of His Highness, the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
“His vision was instrumental in transforming Qatar into a key global presence, particularly in the areas of energy, investment, diplomatic mediation, and media outreach,” the Ministry said.
Father Amir was Qatar’s former emir, who revolutionized Qatar out of its Bedouin background to a regional powerhouse.
