Belize Police Department hosts 27th Annual Cadet Corps Summer Program

By Zoila Palma:  The Belize Police Department (BPD) is hosting the 27th Annual Cadet Corps Summer Program.

The program features a vibrant fusion of education, culture, and spirited competition, as 279 cadets from across Belize gathered at Ecumenical High School.

Sessions include personal and community development, featuring rotational lectures delivered by Community Policing Officers on essential topics including Anger Management, Knowing Your Community, and Effective Communication. Building on this foundation of knowledge, the cadets then engaged with interactive educational booth displays presented by the National Drug Abuse Control Council (NDACC), the Ministry of Rural Transformation, and the Department of Youth Services.

In addition, cadets enjoyed a lively practical dance session led by the Hanigi Cultural Dance Group, allowing the young participants to celebrate Belize’s rich heritage through movement.

“The spirit of camaraderie carried into the afternoon as the cadets transitioned to the auditorium for a high-energy volleyball competition.

Displaying exceptional athleticism and teamwork, the Eastern Region emerged victorious, clinching the title after winning two of three sets, with the Northern Region securing a strong second place, followed by the South in third, and the West rounding out the top four,” the BPD said.

The cadets also participated in cultural presentations from the various precincts, showcasing the diverse talents within the corps and solidifying another successful day of growth and unity at the annual summer program.
