Minister of Culture Francis Fonseca, alongside the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH), proudly congratulated The Garifuna Collective reaching a monumental 20-year milestone.
To mark two decades of sharing Belizean culture with the world, the legendary group has landed a historic cover feature on Songlines Magazine-the world’s premier guide to global music-with cover photography shot right at home Jeremy Lewis of Hopkins Village.
The band is embarking on a 14-day tour spanning the UK, Ireland, and Germany.
“The complex rhythms demand attention, and quickly resolve themselves into a completely irresistible groove. When the melodies kick in on top of them, the lushness is overwhelming.” – The Wall Street Journal
The current touring line-up features Desiree Diego, Kenrick Lewis, Mohobub Flores, Al Ovando, Denmark Flores, Emilio Thomas, Sam Harris, and Austin Aranda.
The Garifuna Collective extended a heartfelt thank you to NICH, as well as their dedicated fans and friends worldwide, for decades of support in keeping Belizean music thriving on the international stage.
