The 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup Round of 32 opened with a mixture of clinical brilliance and administrative disappointment as four teams failed to honour their fixtures on Sunday.
Most notably, the top-flight side Olila High Women Football Club continued their downward spiral by failing to travel to Western Uganda for their match against hosts Buheesi Valley.
This latest forfeit compounds a miserable season for Olila, who has already suffered relegation from the FUFA Women Super League following two previous league forfeitures against Uganda Martyrs and St. Noa.
The trend of no-shows extended across the country, with UPDF failing to honour their encounter against Sheema Girls, while Tooro Queens remained absent for their match against Lamancia Women.
Additionally, Pabo United did not make the trip for their away fixture against Police Women. While FUFA has yet to release an official statement regarding the absences, the FUFA Disciplinary Panel (FDP) is widely expected to award walkovers to the home teams, effectively handing them a free pass into the next round.
On the pitch, however, the goals flowed freely as twelve teams secured their progress through active competition. UCU Lady Cardinals delivered the most ruthless performance of the weekend, dismantling Kick It Women FC in an 8-1 rout.
Close behind were She Maroons, who cruised to a 7-0 victory over Kangulumira in Kayunga. Judith Ssanyu and Lilian Kasuubo each bagged a brace in that encounter, with Jackline Adong, Kauthara Naluyima, and Lilian Mutuuzo also finding the net.
Makerere University matched that scoreline in a dominant display against Buhimba Lady Saints, while the Uganda Martyrs Junior team secured a 2-0 win over Rines thanks to strikes from Lydia Namayanja and Ssanyu Nambuya.
The competition is set to intensify in the coming weeks as the heavyweights join the fray. Eight clubs, comprising last season’s quarter-finalists, received a direct bye to the Round of 16.
This elite group includes reigning Cup winners Amus College WFC, alongside powerhouse contenders Kampala Queens FC, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga FC, She Corporate FC, St. Noa Girls FC, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, Lady Doves FC, and Wakiso Hill.
As the dust settles on a chaotic opening round, these established giants await the survivors of the Round of 32 in what promises to be a high-stakes battle for the prestigious silverware.
