Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders may still be feeling blue about his Colorado Buffaloes football team losing over the weekend, but his supporters are also feeling sad thanks to some new health info he recently shared. And believe us when we say, it’s the last thing any of us wanted to hear.
As we previously told you, in July, Sanders revealed that he’d fought and beaten bladder cancer and underwent successful surgery to have it removed. He kept his health journey private from not only his fans, but also from his three sons so they could focus on their sports careers. Sanders has slowly but surely been opening up about the journey, recently telling “Good Morning America” in September that it was the “most excruciating pain I’ve ever felt in my life.”
Fans may have noticed in viral footage over the weekend that things might still be challenging for him as he was seen on the football field wearing one shoe at one point during the game. Now, he’s speaking out about it and sharing some unfortunate news.
In a post-game interview after his team’s loss against the TCU Horned Frogs, Sanders said: “I think I got more blood clots. Cat’s out of the bag, all right. I think I’ve got more blood clots. It don’t make sense. I’m hurting like crazy.”
He continued: “I got the doctor’s appointment on Monday to see what time it is. So, that’s what’s going on. I’m not getting blood to my leg. That’s why my leg is throbbing. Sorry to get that out but thank you for noticing.”
Once Sanders’ words made its rounds on social media, many online were quick to offer him words of support with some even suggesting that it may be time for him to just focus on his health.
“I hate to say this but truly think Deion needs to step down so he can focus on his health. I pray he gets better,” wrote one user on Instagram.
“Take a break your health is important, we need u,” said another.
“Health before wealth.. might just be time to sit down and enjoy life,” one other user wrote.
Added another: “He needs to just slow down and focus on himself.”
