Five Saint Lucians have been named to the Windward Islands Under-19 squad for this year’s Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Men’s Under-19 Tournament.

The Windward Islands Cricket Board panel of selectors selected a 14-member group after the sub-regional age-group competition concluded on Saturday in Roseau. The hosts Dominica won, whilst Saint Lucia were second.

Batting allrounder Theo Edward will lead the squad. He finished with 84 runs from four innings, two wickets, six catches and a run-out. Also included are top-order batsman Johnathan Daniel, leg break bowler Cody Fontenelle, fast bowler Nathaniel Joseph and off break bowler Tyler Venner.

Earsinho Fontaine from Dominica, an all-rounder, will serve as vice-captain. He is joined by fellow Dominican Derin Lewis, who is an opener and wicketkeeper, and all-rounder Aiden Burton.

The squad also features batsman Khavaughn Bartholomew and chinaman bowler Aravinda Bishop from Grenada. From St Vincent and the Grenadines, left-arm pacer Kazado Henry, who took the most wickets in the competition, joins the team along with Zach Thomas, Kevin Joseph, and Elran Glasgow.

Saint Lucia’s John Eugene will coach the squad, which was announced at the closing ceremony of the Windwards series. Bjorn Fanis and Neil Poyotte have been named as reserves.
