The Clarke family and the Domino’s Pizza team have been hit hard by the loss of patriarch, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Leslie Clarke over the weekend. Clarke died after a vehicular collision on Sunday afternoon, January 25, on the John Compton Highway, southbound between the Choc and Sunny Acres roundabouts.

The incident, in which Clarke was said to have been driving one of the two vehicles involved, is under investigation by relevant authorities, including the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force. Clarke was in his early eighties.

The owner of the local Domino’s Pizza restaurant franchise, Clarke oversaw the extension of the company’s services to the community of Choiseul in September 2025. At the opening, he stated his intention to work closely with the southern community.

Through his ownership of Domino’s, Clarke was a great supporter of youth and sports activities, including but not limited to boxing, swimming, and lifesaving. He was among the founders of the Saint Lucia Lifesaving Association, and was involved in the emergence of the Saint Lucia Swimming Association in the 1980’s.

In public life, Clarke was General Manager of the National Development Corporation (NDC), before later serving as Chairman in the early 1990’s. NDC is now known as Invest Saint Lucia.

In his youth, Clarke was a cricketer of some note, and he continued to follow the sport locally and regionally over the years. He remained an active swimmer up to the time of his death. He is reportedly succeeded by four children.
