Exciting Round 16 match-ups set | CAVB Men’s Club Championship

The CAVB Men’s Club Championship has reached its decisive phase with the Round of 16 match-ups confirmed.

As Africa’s biggest volleyball club tournament moves into the business end, Kigali has already witnessed top-quality action that has left many disappointed while others are jubilating.

The Hosts went into the last group game sitting on top of Pool A but after losing to Egypt’s Petrojet in straight sets they fell to third position.

In the round of 16, APR will take on Morocco’s FUS Rabat in a highly anticipated clash in front of the home crowd while Petrojet will play Ghana Army.

Uganda’s two representatives Nemostars Volleyball Club and Sport-S Volleyball Club are the other sides that will be out searching for quarterfinals spots.

Ugandan giants Nemostars concluded Pool A in the first position and will take on Kenya’s KPA Volleyball Club, which finished fourth in Pool C.

In the same breath, Sport-S which finished third in Pool B will lock horns with Rwanda’s REG who are coached by their former tactician Benon Mugisha.

Elsewhere, Rwanda’s Police will face Nigeria Customs while Cameroon’s PAD Volleyball Club Kenya’s Equity Bank Volleyball Club.

Rwanda’s Kepler lock horns with Kenya’s General Service Unit (GSU) while record champions Al Ahly will entertain Ghana’s Kalibi.

The round of 16 promises a series of high-stakes encounters with traditional heavyweights set to face emerging contenders.

With nerves and jitters rising, one defeat will bring an end to the dream of lifting the champion. However teams will feel safe since teams will now be given the liberty to ask video reviews.
