He Left a “Safe” Career at 44… and Went on to Win 3 Grammys!!!

This week on “Good Things with Brent Lindeque”, we chat to Wouter Kellerman about leaving behind safety, following passion and building an award-winning career from a dream that refused to disappear.

Johannesburg, South Africa (20 May 2026) – At 44 years old, most people would probably cling tighter to the “safe” job. They’d stay in the lane they know, pay the bills and keep the routine. But Wouter Kellerman did something wildly different. He walked away from a successful engineering career, followed the dream that had been sitting in his heart since childhood… and then went on to win three Grammy Awards.

This week’s episode of “Good Things with Brent Lindeque” is absolutely fascinating.

Wouter Kellerman is globally known today as a three-time Grammy Award-winning South African flautist, composer, producer and philanthropist whose music has filled some of the world’s greatest stages, from Carnegie Hall to the FIFA World Cup Closing Ceremony. But behind the accolades is a story that is deeply human and incredibly relatable… especially for anyone who has ever wondered if it’s “too late” to chase the thing they truly love.

Born in Johannesburg, Wouter first picked up a flute at the age of 10. Music was always the dream but life had other plans at first. Without the financial freedom to pursue music full-time, he studied electrical engineering instead and built a successful software engineering company to support his family.

One evening, sitting around the dinner table with his children, Wouter shared what many people probably thought sounded impossible at the time. He told them he wanted to win a Grammy. People around him thought he was having a midlife crisis. After all, who leaves behind stability at 44 years old to chase music professionally?

Wouter did.

And he did not just win one Grammy. He won three.

In this week’s podcast, we chat about vision, perseverance, calculated risks and what it really means to follow your passion, even when the world thinks you are being unrealistic. We speak about the years of hard work behind the success, the discipline required to build an international career and the mindset needed to keep believing in something long before anyone else can see it.

We speak about purpose, about choosing happiness and about trusting that dreams still matter, no matter your age.

We also got an exclusive little surprise during the chat… Wouter revealed that he is currently creating music for a brand-new “Liewe Heksie” movie. Ja, the in me is excited!

This episode is not “just” about a flute or Grammys or sold-out concerts around the world. It is about dreaming boldly, taking chances on yourself and understanding that life can still surprise you in the most extraordinary ways when you choose to follow what sets your soul on fire.
