Bafana Bafana fans will find out which 26 players will represent the country at FIFA World Cup 2026 when national coach Hugo Broos names his final squad in Pretoria at 19:00 on Wednesday, 27 May.

The much-anticipated announcement will take place at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guest House, where Broos will be joined by President Cyril Ramaphosa, SAFA president Danny Jordaan and senior government officials for the official send-off event.

Broos last week named a 32-man preliminary squad, with several difficult selection calls still to be made ahead of football’s biggest tournament.

TALKING POINTS

Among the talking points are whether in-form Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen will make the final cut and which attacking options Broos will trust for the global showpiece.

South Africa will begin their World Cup journey against hosts Mexico at the Estadio Azteca on 11 June before facing South Korea and the Czech Republic in Group A.

Before departing for Mexico, Bafana will play a World Cup send-off friendly against Nicaragua at Orlando Stadium on Friday, 29 May, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00.

Dates and camp

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico, runs from 11 June to 19 July.

South Africa will be one of seven nations to be based in Mexico.

Bafana Bafana will call Pachuca – Universidad Del Futbol their home during the group stages.
