Liat Air Just Added New Nonstop Flights Between Antigua and Guadeloupe

Antigua and Guadeloupe are relatively close neighbors in the Eastern Caribbean, but getting between them has not always been simple.

Depending on the season, travelers have often faced indirect routings, long layovers or multi-stop regional itineraries just to travel between the two islands.

That’s now changing.

Liat Air has officially launched new nonstop service between Antigua and Guadeloupe, adding another regional route as Caribbean airlines continue rebuilding and expanding intra-regional connectivity.

The new route operates twice weekly, linking V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua with Guadeloupe Maryse Condé Airport in Pointe-à-Pitre.

The service gives travelers a direct option between the Eastern Caribbean hub of Antigua and the French Caribbean department of Guadeloupe, eliminating one of the more frustrating regional gaps in Caribbean air travel.

A Faster Connection Between Two Caribbean Hubs

The new flights are aimed squarely at regional travelers, particularly passengers moving between the Eastern Caribbean and the French West Indies for business, family travel and short leisure trips.

Antigua remains one of the Caribbean’s most important aviation gateways, particularly for onward connections throughout the Eastern Caribbean.

Guadeloupe has also been seeing renewed tourism momentum, particularly among travelers looking for a French Caribbean experience with volcanic landscapes, rainforest drives, Creole food culture and ferry connections to islands like Les Saintes and Marie-Galante.

The new route now puts those destinations within a relatively short nonstop flight from Antigua.

Why Guadeloupe Is Drawing More Travelers

Guadeloupe has increasingly emerged as one of the more intriguing destinations in the wider Caribbean, particularly for travelers looking beyond the region’s traditional tourism markets.

The archipelago blends French infrastructure with distinctly Caribbean character, from the beaches of Grande-Terre to the waterfalls and hiking trails across Basse-Terre.

Pointe-à-Pitre’s markets, rum distilleries and marina districts have also become a growing draw for regional travelers arriving from neighboring islands.

The addition of direct Antigua service gives travelers another practical entry point into the French Caribbean network.

Liat’s Continued Regional Expansion

The route is another step in Liat Air’s broader effort to rebuild regional connectivity across the Caribbean.

Inter-island travel remains one of the region’s biggest transportation challenges, particularly on shorter routes where limited frequencies and indirect connections can dramatically extend travel times.

New nonstop service between neighboring islands continues to be one of the most closely watched developments in Caribbean aviation, particularly for tourism-dependent economies.

Liat said the new Antigua-Guadeloupe flights are designed to support easier regional travel while strengthening tourism and commercial ties between the two destinations.

The carrier has increasingly focused on rebuilding core regional links across the Eastern Caribbean, where direct airlift often plays an outsized role in tourism growth and business travel.

What It Means for Travelers

The new service opens another easy multi-island option for travelers already visiting Antigua.

That could mean splitting a trip between Antigua’s beach resorts and Guadeloupe’s rainforest-covered interior (or its rum country), or pairing sailing and marina travel in Antigua with the French-Caribbean food scene in Pointe-à-Pitre.

The route also creates another direct connection between English-speaking and French-speaking Caribbean destinations, an area regional tourism officials have increasingly prioritized as intra-Caribbean travel continues to rebound.

Travelers looking to explore more than one island on the same trip now have another practical Caribbean hop on the map
