Los Angeles man takes late-night Uber after work. Then a 20-something Caucasian woman bangs on the glass asking for help at Raising Cane’s: ‘Had a Louis Vuitton purse’
'White girl wasted is a true term.'
A Los Angeles man recounts a story that happened when he first moved to the city and was driving for Uber. Here’s what it has to do with Raising Cane’s and a 20-something Caucasian woman.
TikTok creator Ricardo “Ricky” Bribiescas (@ricky.bribiescas) posted a video about the experience on April 21. “I’m gonna tell you guys a crazy story,” Bribiescas says to start the video. “Let me paint the picture.”
Bribiescas explains that the situation happened when he first moved to Los Angeles and was driving Uber at night to make ends meet. He says that one evening, he picked up a man for what started as a routine fare.
How This Los Angeles Man’s Late-Night Uber Ride Went Wrong
“We’re driving, and we get to a stoplight, and there is a [Raising] Cane’s on the right-hand side,” he says. “Next thing you know, somebody’s banging on my passenger door window, asking for help.”
He describes the woman as a 20-something Caucasian woman with a Louis Vuitton bag and ripped skinny jeans. “And she’s like, ‘Help! Get me out of here,’” Bribiescas recalls.
Long story short, Bribiescas says, he and his initial passenger decided in an instant to let the woman into the car. “She gets in the car, we’re driving, and the guy in the back is like, ‘Here’s my phone; call who you need to call,’” Bribiescas says.
He’s nervous, but he continues to drive and eventually gets onto the expressway. Although he locked the doors, he was still a bit nervous. Turns out, that was for a good reason, because the woman eventually did something scary: She opened the car door.
“This girl jumped out of my car going 65 mph on the far left lane,” he says. “She takes off the seatbelt like this, opens the door, steps out, and when she steps out, my car vacuums her under. So it’s like my car is [expletive] bouncing on the freeway like at two in the morning. Cars behind me are honking at me.”
What Happened to the Mysterious Raising Cane’s Woman?
Bribiescas says he immediately pulled over onto the shoulder of the highway, vomiting, and asked his passenger to call the authorities. That’s where the video cuts off.
In a follow-up video, he revealed that he and the passenger spoke to authorities and told them the story over several hours. “That’s when I realized, in L.A., you mind your own business,” he says. “You can’t be a nice guy like that all the time because [expletive] like that will happen and traumatize you forever.”
In another follow-up video, the TikToker says the story took a slightly supernatural twist when the passenger revealed his name was also Ricardo as Bribiescas dropped him off at his home—directly next to a cemetery. Either way, Bribiescas says he sold his car after the experience, as he could no longer tolerate being inside it.
Don’t Pick up Extra Passengers While Driving for Uber
Uber policy specifically prohibits picking up anyone other than the person who ordered the ride and their guests. Drivers aren’t supposed to drive around with friends and/or family, and they’re not authorized to pick up any unregistered passengers like Bribiescas describes doing in his story.
According to Davidoff Law, Bribiescas’ description of the aftermath of the experience represents what Uber drivers should do in the case of an accident: Get to safety, call 911, and wait for the authorities to arrive on the scene. Once they do, cooperate fully.
After that, Uber requests that drivers report crashes through its Driver app. From there, the claims support team will guide drivers through the claims process.
