Zimbabwean international Tawanda Maswanhise has been named the Scottish Premiership January Player of the Month, adding to an already impressive season for the 23-year-old forward.
Maswanhise received the accolade on Thursday after topping the votes for the league’s best player of the month. This marks his second award in two months, having previously been named Player of the Month in November.
Despite missing one match for Motherwell at the start of January, Maswanhise scored five goals in four games, demonstrating his lethal finishing ability. He currently leads the Scottish Premiership top goalscorers chart with 13 goals, one ahead of B. Greyn, who has 12.
The forward missed part of the domestic season while on international duty with the Zimbabwe Warriors at AFCON, yet returned to continue his impressive scoring run.
During the recent January mid-season transfer window, Maswanhise turned down interest from several Scottish clubs, and he is now reportedly on the radar of Italian Serie A side AS Roma.
