By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police have issued notices of intended prosecution following a traffic accident that claimed the life of 31-year-old Mexican national Nidia Hernandez near Belize’s northern border.
The accident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026, as Hernandez was riding a motorcycle toward the Mexican border.
Investigators say a green Chevrolet was travelling behind Hernandez when she allegedly swerved into the opposite lane and collided with a Dodge Attitude travelling from the direction of Mexico toward Belize.
Hernandez sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Police say urine samples were obtained from the drivers of both motor vehicles as the investigation continues.
