Minister of Culture Meets With ICESCO Director General

On May 18, Mr. Houssein Ould Medou, Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Relations with Parliament, and Government Spokesperson, paid a visit to the headquarters of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), located in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.

The minister was received by Dr. Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik, the Director General of the Organization, in the presence of several of his senior collaborators.

During the meeting, the minister congratulated the Director General on his re-election for a new term by consensus. He also praised the progress made by the Organization and the quality and diversity of its programs in its areas of responsibility.

The discussion also focused on the cooperative relations between Mauritania and ICESCO and ways to strengthen and develop them, as well as several issues, including strategies and plans to address current challenges.

For his part, the ICESCO Director General presented the Organization’s main programs and his forward-looking vision before accompanying the minister on a tour of some of its services, including the library and the institution’s affiliated media channel.
