National Assembly Speaker Participates in APF Regional Assembly

On May 18 in Dakar, Mr. Mohamed Bemba Meguett, Speaker of the National Assembly, took part in the opening of the 32nd session of the African Regional Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF), alongside speakers of parliaments and representatives from several African countries.

In a speech on this occasion, the Speaker of the National Assembly emphasized that the stability of states cannot be ensured solely through security measures, but also relies on the strengthening of social justice, the promotion of good governance, the involvement of youth, and the building of credible and respected institutions, while making dialogue a constant approach to addressing challenges.

He explained that Mauritania, under the leadership of Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani,  President of the Republic, is working to consolidate a model based on reconciliation, national cohesion, and human development. He added that the country continues to prioritize three key areas: strengthening the rule of law, consolidating social justice, and deepening regional cooperation.

The three-day session examines several issues related to international crises, African sovereignty, and the role of parliaments in strategic governance and collective security. Discussions also focus on the contribution of African parliaments to the consolidation of stability and the promotion of lasting peace.

The agenda also includes the presentation of the African region’s activity report, as well as interventions from representatives of other regions, notably the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe.
