Magic Stomers beat Pearl Queens to take the lead after game one of the National Basketball League quarterfinals Playoffs.

Magic Stomers secured a well-deserved 51-38 victory against the Pearl Queens in the encounter at YMCA Court, Wandegeya on Friday.

It was a slow start to the game as both sides were not quick to put points on the board.

Susan Eben gave the Magic Stomers the needed drive as they opened a five point (9-4) with four minutes on the clock. Joy Nekesa made an easy layup extending the lead to 11 points at the end of the frame.

The Magic Stomers were limited to only three points in the second quarter as the Pearl Queens levelled the game 22-22 going into the long break.

Moreen Amoding dropped three long shots beyond the paint as the Stormers opened a three-point (34-31) at the end of the third frame.

The Pearl Queens struggled to find their rhythm in the final quarter. Owor Nyachwo dropped a big three to put the icing on the cake as they sealed a 13-point victory.

Moreen Amoding led the Stomers’ scoring chart with 11 points while Eve Grace Namuli and Joy Nekesa added 13 rebounds each.
