OECS-Morocco Economic Cooperation is the Highlight During Promotion Week

A strong focus on economic development partnerships among OECS Member States and the Kingdom of Morocco was the highlight of the Economic Promotion Week from June 22 to 26, 2026, in Morocco.

The initiative was conceptualised and organised by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) for the participating Member States represented through the Embassies of the Eastern Caribbean States in Morocco to deepen trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Morocco and OECS Member States. The OECS Commission also partnered in the activity by synthesising the priorities of participating Member States and supporting collective regional initiatives that can generate tangible benefits for OECS communities.

The participating OECS Member States, represented through the Embassies of the Eastern Caribbean States in Morocco, included Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Delegations comprised senior representatives of national investment promotion agencies, ministries responsible for trade and economic development, chambers of commerce, including:

The delegation was further strengthened by representatives of the OECS Commission, the OECS Business Council, and officials of the Embassies of the Eastern Caribbean States in the Kingdom of Morocco.

Ambassador & Head of Mission, Embassies of Eastern Caribbean States to the Kingdom of Morocco, His Excellency Ian Queeley, said,

“This Economic Promotion Week has reaffirmed that the relationship between the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States and the Kingdom of Morocco is one built not only on friendship, but on shared aspirations for sustainable economic growth, innovation, investment, and South-South cooperation. Through productive dialogue and meaningful exchanges, we have showcased the immense opportunities that exist between our regions and laid the foundation for stronger commercial partnerships.
“The OECS remains committed to deepening economic diplomacy by connecting our entrepreneurs, investors, and institutions with strategic partners in Morocco. We look forward to translating the momentum generated this week into tangible outcomes that create jobs, expand trade, and promote inclusive prosperity for the peoples of both the Eastern Caribbean and Morocco.”
Over the course of the week, participants engaged with a wide range of Moroccan public and private sector institutions. Discussions focused on opportunities for investment, trade, and joint projects in areas of mutual interest, including agriculture and agro-processing, food security, renewable energy, fisheries, the blue economy, financial services, port development, maritime trade, air connectivity, and tourism. Particular attention was given to strengthening resilience in the agricultural sector, advancing geothermal and solar energy opportunities, and improving tourism and economic connectivity between the Caribbean and Africa.

Engagements with the private sector and financial institutions also explored opportunities to deepen banking relations, promote business-to-business cooperation, and examine the potential establishment of an OECS–Morocco Business Council. Participants further examined opportunities within Casablanca Finance City and considered avenues for Moroccan investment in priority sectors across the OECS.

The delegation connected with AMCI, the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM), the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN), the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Investments and Exports (AMDIE), Casablanca Finance City, the Professional Group of Banks of Morocco (GPBM), OCP Africa (Nutri Crops), the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), the Regional Council of Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab, the Regional Investment Centre, and the Port of Dakhla.

The visit to Dakhla provided participants with valuable insight into Morocco’s regional development strategy and the potential of the Dakhla Atlantic Port to support transatlantic trade. The discussions also highlighted the strategic positioning of the Caribbean and the potential for enhanced port development and maritime cooperation.

The Embassies of the Eastern Caribbean States in Morocco welcomed the strong engagement by Moroccan institutions and the active participation of OECS representatives. Participants left the programme well informed and energised to pursue follow-up action with relevant Moroccan agencies and to advance practical initiatives arising from the week’s engagements.
