Ogun 2027: Adesola-Tijani Explains Why Yayi Has What It Takes to Govern Ogun

The Founder of Local Votes Empowerment (LOVE), Hon. Mojisola Adesola-Tijani, has explained why she believes the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has the experience, capacity and political reach required to govern the state.

Adesola-Tijani, a former House of Representatives aspirant and grassroots politician from Ogun East Senatorial District, said her support for Yayi was based on what she described as his political experience, accessibility and ability to connect with people across the three senatorial districts.

Speaking on the 2027 governorship race, she said Ogun voters should look beyond political sentiments and assess the candidates based on their records, experience, capacity and understanding of the needs of the people.

According to her, Yayi’s years in public service, legislative experience and extensive engagement with communities have given him an understanding of the issues confronting different parts of the state.

She said the next governor of Ogun State would require more than political popularity, stressing that the office demands someone capable of bringing people together, managing government institutions and translating policies into programmes that directly affect residents.

“Why I believe Senator Yayi can govern Ogun is because he has the experience, capacity, and, importantly, he understands the people.

“He has built relationships across Ogun State and has consistently engaged with different communities. Governance is not just about occupying an office; it is about understanding the people you are leading and knowing how to respond to their needs.

“For me, the 2027 election should be about competence and capacity. We should ask ourselves who among the candidates has the experience and political understanding required to move Ogun forward,” she said.

Adesola-Tijani said Yayi’s political support across Ogun East, Ogun Central, and Ogun West was an indication of his growing acceptance among different groups in the state.

She noted that the state’s diversity required a governor who could operate beyond sectional interests and give every senatorial district a sense of belonging.

“Ogun is bigger than one senatorial district or one political interest. We need somebody who understands the three senatorial districts and can bring everyone together.

“This is one of the reasons I support Yayi. His political network cuts across the state, and I believe that can be an advantage in building an inclusive administration,” she added.

The LOVE founder also urged supporters of the various political parties and candidates to focus more on issues that affect the people rather than personal attacks.

She said the electorate deserved to hear practical ideas on education, healthcare, employment, infrastructure, security, youth development, and economic opportunities ahead of the 2027 election.

Adesola-Tijani maintained that political campaigns should provide an opportunity for candidates to explain their programmes and allow voters to make informed decisions.

She said her organisation, LOVE, would continue to promote grassroots participation and encourage residents to take an active interest in the political process ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

“Politics should be about service. At the end of the day, people want a government that will listen to them, understand their challenges, and provide solutions.

“That is why we will continue to engage with the grassroots and encourage our people to look at the candidates carefully. For me, Senator Yayi has demonstrated the experience and capacity that make him worthy of consideration for the governorship of Ogun State,” she said.
