By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A collision between an SUV and a motorcycle at an Orange Walk Town intersection has left the motorcycle rider with leg injuries and both vehicles damaged, and police are investigating with the question of fault still open.
According to the Belize Police Department, a 31-year-old manager reported that on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at about 11:05 a.m., he was driving a silver Mitsubishi Outlander SUV along Dunn Street, travelling from the direction of Cinderella Street toward St. Peter’s Street.
According to his report, as he intended to make a left turn onto St. Peter’s Street, a black motorcycle collided with the left portion of his vehicle. The impact scraped and dented the SUV’s driver and left rear passenger doors, broke the left rear view mirror, and broke and dislocated the fender running under the left rear passenger side. He also observed damage to the motorcycle, including a broken front wheel guard and a broken right-side fender near the fuel tank.
The scene was visited and processed by scenes of crime personnel, with a sketch plan drawn and measurements taken. The motorcycle rider, who was observed with abrasions to the right leg, was served medico-legal forms.
Police recorded a statement from the SUV driver, who is not accepting fault for the accident but has indicated he is willing to settle the matter through insurance. A statement is yet to be recorded from the other party involved, and until both accounts are in hand, the question of responsibility remains undetermined.
The matter is under investigation.
The collision adds another entry to a month in which motorcycles have featured heavily in the district’s road news, and it carries the timeless caution for every intersection: the turn and the through-rider must see each other, because when they meet instead, the rider always takes the worse of it.
