Innovative Saint Lucian tech firm Orbtronics has launched its latest product, aiming to help small and medium enterprises connect with the international e-commerce market.
The company officially unveiled OPAY, a new e-commerce payment solution designed to make it easier for Caribbean businesses to accept online payments and participate fully in the digital economy.
Rather than replacing banks or acting as a financial institution, OPAY operates as a technology layer. It works alongside established, regulated payment processors to simplify onboarding, payment management, and transaction visibility.
“For years, businesses in the Caribbean have faced challenges when trying to set up e-commerce, ranging from lengthy bank approvals to fragmented systems not designed for regional realities. OPAY was developed in direct response to these challenges, offering a streamlined, regionally compatible approach to online payments that allows businesses to get started faster and operate with greater flexibility,” the company said in an official statement.

This payment gateway is built through a partnership with Stripe, a major international financial technology company that provides payment processing software for e-commerce websites and mobile applications. Because Stripe requires users to have a US bank account—a requirement most businesses in Saint Lucia and the region do not meet, Orbtronics acts as an agent for Caribbean integration into the space.
Orbtronics is currently running a promotion until the end of the year, charging US$50 per month for subscriptions to OPAY plus a 5.5 per cent transaction fee. Additionally, businesses that refer a customer to OPAY will receive their first year free.
