DODOMA: THE Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government – PMO-RALG) responsible for Health, Dr Rajabu Seif, has commended the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) for its efforts in raising public awareness on environmental conservation and sustainable resource management.
Dr Seif made the remarks during a visit to the NEMC exhibition booth at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Centre in Dodoma, where environmental stakeholders are showcasing various initiatives ahead of the World Environment Day commemorations held annually on June 5. This year’s theme is “Vision 2050: Let’s Commit to Greening Tanzania.”

While at the pavilion, Dr Seif praised NEMC for its continued role in educating citizens on environmental protection, saying the council plays a key role in enhancing public understanding of their responsibility to safeguard natural resources for present and future generations.
Visitors to the booth are being educated on Environmental and Social Impact Assessments, tree planting initiatives, waste segregation at source, and the concept of zero waste, which promotes waste reduction and recycling practices.
Dr. Seif emphasized that strong collaboration between NEMC, other institutions, and citizens is essential in achieving sustainable environmental management and ensuring long-term national development goals are met.
