A 28-year-old woman remains hospitalised after being hit by a minivan during an altercation along the Rodney Bay Strip on Sunday night. Police are investigating what happened.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force said early investigations show the woman got into an altercation with a man and another woman before she ended up on the road, where an oncoming minivan hit her.
Emergency workers from the Saint Lucia Fire Service went to the scene and took her to Owen King EU Hospital for treatment.
At first, the Fire Service said the woman had injuries to her lower body. But a family member told St. Lucia Times that her injuries are much more serious, with trauma to several areas and significant damage to her jaw, mouth and teeth.
The Criminal Investigations Department at the Gros Islet Police Divisional Headquarters are looking into the incident.
