Shyne Barrow launches 2622 LGND tour

By Zoila Palma:  Former Leader of the Opposition and rap artist Shyne Barrow has announced the launch of his “2622 LGND” tour, bringing together iconic names from Hip Hop and Reggae for a celebration of music’s golden eras.

The tour will feature reggae icon Barrington Levy and rap legend Lil Cease, with performances planned across the United States and Canada before expanding to international markets.

Shyne, who rose to prominence with his commanding baritone and gritty lyrical style, released his platinum-certified self-titled debut album in 2000, followed by the gold-certified “Godfather Buried Alive” in 2004.

Over his career, he has sold more than 40 million records as a performer, writer and producer, with credits involving artists including Usher, Lil Wayne and The Notorious B.I.G.

Announcing the tour on social media, Shyne said the upcoming shows will continue the legacy of his return to the stage. “Since my historic return to the stage on May 2 at the Kings Theatre I had to take a little time before we continued the World Tour to ensure I got the iconic Barrington Levy to clear his calendar so the people can get one of the most legendary Rap/Reggae collaborations ever live on stage in the U.S. and Canada before we go to Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, UK, Latin America, the Caribbean and finish in Belize!” he wrote.

Shyne added, “Beyond excited to announce the celebration of the legacy continues this fall with the 2622 LGND tour with my very special guests the iconic Barrington Levy and my brother lil Cease plus other surprises……can’t wait to see you.” The tour is expected to showcase classic hits from the artists while bringing together generations of fans across multiple musical genres.

The announcement comes as Shyne continues to build on a career that has spanned more than two decades and has included a transition from international music star to political figure.
