The New York Knicks captured the 2026 NBA title over the weekend, taking home their first league championship since 1973. And while all eyes were on the players’ moves on the basketball court, there were also a few eyebrows raised at one player’s choice of footwear.

Knicks forward OG Anunoby was spotted throughout the NBA finals series wearing Skechers basketball shoes. Yes Skechers, the same brand that collaborates with Martha Stewart, also made the shoes worn by the now two-time NBA champ.

Anunoby was spotted wearing the Skechers SKX NEXUS sneakers in a bright yellow colorway. The basketball shoes feature a lightweight carriage with reinforced ankle support and a grippy rubber sole made by Goodyear, the iconic tire manufacturer.

A breathable mesh upper keeps your feet dry while a springy foam midsole is designed for both stability and responsive performance. Skechers says the shoe is a unisex style and their website has the SKX NEXUS available in eight colorways and men’s sizes 9 to 13 (Anunoby reportedly wears a size 15.5 shoe and it’s likely Skechers custom made a pair for him).

OG also sported a royal blue version and a pink pair of the Skechers basketball sneakers during the Knicks’ playoff run, though both colorways are sold out online. We like this black colorway seen here, which offers a sleek and fashion-forward silhouette for both on and off the court wear.

Anunoby also wears the Skechers SKX REIGN basketball shoe, most recently sporting a neon yellow pair during Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

The high-top style features a cushy sock liner, a lock-down heel, and a mid-foot wrap for stability and a more secure fit. The shoe also features a carbon-infused plate for “explosive take-offs,” per a product description.

What we like: the SKX REIGN gives off the trendy chunky basketball shoe look without actually being heavy and obtrusive. In fact, OG was able to soar to the basket in these sneakers, thanks to the lightweight materials and Skechers’ so-called “Hyper Burst Technology,” which the brand says is a “cushioning midsole that’s ultra-lightweight and incredibly responsive.”

What we like: the SKX REIGN sneakers are manufactured with vegan materials, making this a winning sustainable pick.

The Knicks win has brought renewed attention on Skechers’ line of performance footwear. The brand has long made shoes for everything from basketball to pickleball, though they are perhaps still best known for their comfort shoes. Still, the brand has collaborated with other basketball stars as well, including Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, Julius Randle of the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Brooklyn Nets’ Terance Mann.

In an Instagram post, Skechers acknowledged Anunoby’s big feat (and big feet?) with a video depicting the NBA champ as the Statue of Liberty. The caption: “They said it couldn’t be done in Skechers. @oanunoby made sure it was.
Congratulations Champ.”

This was Anunoby’s second NBA title, after previously winning the NBA championship in 2019 with the Toronto Raptors.

Other current Skechers releases, meantime, include an ongoing collaboration with Snoop Dogg, and a line with John Deere, in addition to the Martha Stewart collection. Ever the gentlemanly giant, Anunoby made sure he kept the love in the family by recently gifting a pair of his shoes to Stewart too.
