Tanzania commits to deepen ties with Denmark, its long-term partner in the health sector

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA will continue to strengthen its cooperation with Denmark in the health sector as its commitment to improve health services by  increasing access to quality treatment and strengthening service delivery systems for its citizens.

Dr Samizi said this while representing the Minister of Health, Mohamed Mchengerwa  in the 177th anniversary of Denmark’s Constitution Day, where he explained that Denmark has continued to be a long-term partner of Tanzania in the development of the health sector for about six decades.

He said through the program to support the health sector (Health Sector Program Support), Denmark has contributed significantly to strengthening health services in the country, improving access to medical services as well as supporting cooperation between the public and private sectors in the provision of health services.

Dr Samizi said various institutions including Christian Social Services Commission (CSSC), CCBRT, APHFTA, Marie Stopes Tanzania as well as Sikika have successfully benefited from the collaboration, a step that helped improve health outcomes for the community in various areas of the country.

“This investment has not only strengthened institutions but also saved lives, protected families, and expanded the opportunities of citizens to live a healthy life,” said Dr. Samizi.

In addition, he said that Tanzania continues to be pleased with the ongoing cooperation through the Danish Strategic Sector Cooperation program, which will continue to strengthen health sector relations between Tanzania and Denmark

In his speech, Dr. Samizi also congratulated Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for continuing to strengthen health diplomacy and international cooperation that stimulates the development of the health sector in the country.

In addition, he has sent congratulatory greetings to the citizens of Denmark on the 177th anniversary of their Constitution Day while emphasizing Tanzania’s determination to continue cooperating with the country in strengthening the health and well-being of citizens on both sides.
