Anguilla’s netball team gained valuable exposure and regional experience at the 10th anniversary Battle of the Isles tournament in St Maarten.
Held from 28 October to 1 November at the LB Scott Sports Auditorium in St Maarten, the competition featured seven teams from across the region.
Among those participating were players from Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, St Eustatius, St Kitts and Nevis, Saba, and St Maarten.

Anguilla opened their campaign on 28 October with a narrow 26-23 defeat against St Eustatius before losing 42-15 to St Maarten the following day.
On 30 October, the team faced two matches, going down 76-9 to St Kitts and Nevis, and 52-13 to Antigua and Barbuda.
But their fortunes turned on 31 October when the team secured a 34-25 victory against Saba.
Anguilla finished their tournament campaign on 1 November with an 82-7 defeat against Dominica.
In a Facebook post, the Anguilla Netball Association said the competition was Anguilla’s first world-ranking tournament and that its team had the youngest players.
The event was “filled with lessons, challenges, growth, and unforgettable moments”, the association said, adding: “Our ladies gave it their all while proudly representing our beautiful island.”

At the end of the competition, Joden Henry was named Anguilla’s Most Valuable Player and also received the Player of the Match award for the team’s game against Saba.
“While the competition presented its challenges, this experience has provided our young athletes with valuable exposure, international experience and an opportunity to learn what it takes to compete at this level,” the post said.
Speaking directly to the players and the management team, the association added: “Thank you for your commitment, sacrifices, and dedication. Keep your heads high.
“This is only the beginning. Take the lessons, build on the experience, continue training, and come back stronger.”
The association also thanked everyone who supported, sponsored and followed the team’s progress throughout the competition.
“We may be closing this chapter, but our journey is far from over. We have learned, we have grown, and we will be back better than ever.”
