Temporary road closure on N5 after diesel tanker crash
There was a crash involving a diesel tanker which resulted in a hazardous fuel spillage.
Motorists are warned of temporary road closure on the N5 between Senekal and Winburg in the Free State due a diesel tanker spillage.
Police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli says this follows a crash involving a diesel tanker which resulted in a hazardous fuel spillage across the road.
Kareli says emergency services and clean up operation are on the scene to secure the area.
“Road users are advised to utilise the following alternative routes. Motorists traveling from Winburg toward Senekal: Please use the Winburg town off-ramp to bypass the scene and reconnect toward your destination. Motorists traveling from Senekal toward Winburg – N1, please detour through Winburg town to access the N1 highway. Road users are requested to exercise patience, maintain a safe following distance, and obey all instructions from law enforcement and traffic officials on the ground. The public will be notified as soon as the road is officially cleared and reopened for safe travel.”
