By Breaking Belize News Staff: Three men have died following a collision involving two motorcycles on Mahogany Street in Belize City early Sunday morning.
Police say that at approximately 12:26 a.m. on August 9, officers responded to the area near the intersection of Mahogany and Tibruce Streets, where they found two extensively damaged motorcycles.
The victims were identified as Darwin Monroy, Allan Arnold and 22-year-old Theodore Swaso, all of Belize City.
According to police, Arnold was travelling on a motorcycle in one direction while Monroy was travelling in the opposite direction with Swaso as his pillion rider when the two motorcycles collided.
All three men sustained grave injuries. Arnold and Monroy died shortly after the collision, while Swaso was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police say only one motorcycle helmet was recovered from the scene. Investigators have not yet established who was wearing the helmet at the time of the collision.
The circumstances surrounding the fatal crash remain under investigation.
