By Zoila Palma: On July 31, 2026, the Toledo Cacao Growers Association Limited (TCGA) successfully hosted the End of Project Evaluation Workshop for the “Cacao Industry Fire Recovery and Sustainability Project” at the Maya House of Cacao and Chocolate Museum.
The workshop brought together farmers, stakeholders, and project partners to reflect on the achievements, challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations from the implementation of the project.
Participants also contributed valuable feedback through a participatory evaluation process aimed at strengthening future initiatives that support climate resilience and sustainable cacao production.
TCGA extended appreciation to Gonzalo Castillo for facilitating the evaluation workshop and to Leonel Requena, National Coordinator of the GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP) Belize, implemented by UNDP, for his continued guidance and support.
“We are especially grateful to the GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP) Belize and UNDP for their financial and technical support, which enabled the successful implementation of this important project. Together, we are helping to restore fire-affected cacao farms, strengthen farmer resilience, and promote sustainable livelihoods while protecting Belize’s rich biodiversity,” the association expressed.
