When Ayo’s* female friends talk about masturbating, she nods along. Sometimes she even joins in. “It sounds stupid but I just pretend that I do it,” the 27-year-old admits. “I feel embarrassed to tell my friends that I don’t touch myself, because I worry it would make me sound like a prude, or like I’m betraying my progressive values.”
