From the line; ‘Thanks for turning me on’
With Thanks
Thank you
For turning me
Around to see your way
Of seeing is the truthful way
To see
Beauty
In all disguises
Alibis, two eyed masks
Blushers, lip sticks and eye shadows
I see
Thank you
For turning me
Around to hear your voice
The inflection in your accent
Of truth
Like lies
Now mis-spoken
Your twisted tongue yapping
Like a political statement
Untrue
Thank you
For turning me
Around to taste this life
Of cutlery and dinner plates
Now washed
So clean
Shining like sun
Purified innocence
Regained through domesticity
Marriage
People
Joined together
By painful history
Of love folding and unfolding
Thank you
Thank you
For this never
Ending commitment to
Me and my inadequacies
Thank you

Day 9 Prompt: How do you stop the long dark winter nights from becoming tedious? If you can’t or don’t – how COULD you? And does it work?
Now It’s Dark
To sit beside you in the dark
To walk and hear the singing lark
To stand and look at trees
To feel this wintry breeze
To feel the cold so stark
To be here again at your side
Beneath these blankets where we hide
When we cuddle up tight
With no one left to fight
Then there I will abide
Through the darkness and through the fear
You need to know I will be here
No need to feel lonely
Sitting with you only
My love for you is clear
