Yanga Chief Taps Oxlade & Thatohatsi For “What If? (Mngani)” Remix. Yanga Chief Taps Oxlade & Thatohatsi For “What If?” Remix. South African rapper and producer Yanga Chief has officially set the stage for the next chapter of his acclaimed album rollout, teasing a major addition to his Lord Faku: The Life of a Dyan era with the upcoming deluxe release.

Taking to social media, Yanga Chief confirmed that the Lord Faku Deluxe will drop on 29 May, building anticipation among fans who have followed the project since its original release. The deluxe announcement signals an expansion of the already well-received body of work, which cemented his position as one of South Africa’s most consistent and conceptual hip-hop voices.
Alongside the release date reveal, Yanga Chief also previewed one of the standout additions to the project: “What If Remix”, featuring Nigerian Afrobeats star Oxlade and South African vocalist Thatohatsi.
The collaboration hints at a cross-continental fusion, blending Yanga Chief’s introspective storytelling with Oxlade’s smooth Afrobeats delivery and Thatohatsi’s melodic touch. The original “What If? (Mngani)” already stood as one of the standout records from the album era, known for its emotional depth and reflective tone, and the remix is expected to amplify that impact with fresh perspectives and layered vocals.
The Lord Faku project, released in 2025, was widely praised for its cohesive narrative style and personal themes, exploring identity, success, and vulnerability. The deluxe edition is expected to extend that storytelling while introducing new sonic directions and high-profile collaborations.
Fans have since flooded social media with excitement, praising the addition of international talent and the promise of new music from one of South Africa’s most thoughtful hip-hop architects.
With the countdown to 29 May officially on, anticipation is building for what could be one of the more notable deluxe releases in the current South African hip-hop landscape.
