APR Volleyball Club served off the 47th CAVB Men’s Club Championship tournament with a dominant victory against Zimbabwe’s Black Rhinos.
APR secured a dominant 3-0 victory against Black Rhinos in the CAVB ACC encounter at BK Arena on Tuesday evening.
In front of a large and active crowd, APR came out of their blocks early racing to a 13-09 thanks to a good court cover and powerful efforts.
While the hosts thought they would easily limit the Black Rhinos to only 15 points, they lost concentration and gave away easy three points through unforced errors.
But at the end of the period, APR triumphed with a 25-18 win.
In the second period, the Arena’s heat rose rapidly after the arrival of the President, Paul Kagame. Calmly, he strolled to the general audience rather than taking one of the comfortable seats in the VIP Box.
It was a one-way as APR opened a 7-2 comfortable lead. Once again, the Black Rhinos failed to find the right strategy to deal with APR’s strong attack.
The Black Rhino’s Setter greatly cost his side, making it hard for the attackers to find the right rhythm in the game. At the end of the set, APR posted a comfortable 25-10 win.
In the third set, head coach Sammy Muringe had the liberty to stretch his rotation as the Army side sealed the game with a 25-11 win.
