Arthritis and Lupus Association vows wider reach in 2026

The St Lucia Arthritis and Lupus Association (SLALA) says it will expand efforts in 2026 to raise awareness of rheumatic conditions, advocate for improved healthcare access and strengthen education and support for members and their families.

The pledge follows a year of activity in 2025 that blended advocacy with practical assistance. During the Christmas season, SLALA distributed food hampers to seven members identified as being in particular need, with support from Glace Supermarket, Bank of Saint Lucia, Bay Medical Centre and other donors.

“This initiative reflects SLALA’s ongoing mission to provide tangible support, not only through advocacy and awareness, but also through compassionate action that directly touches lives,” the association said in a statement.

Other highlights of 2025 included the annual Easter Tea Party, the Strides for Lupus Fun Walk, SLALA’s first Town Hall Meeting, the October Sunrise Walk for Arthritis Awareness, the resumption of in‑person member meetings, and the donation of a wheelchair to a member in need.

“Each effort represents a step forward in empowering persons living with chronic illness and strengthening the support network around them,” the association said.

As SLALA looks ahead, it is expressing appreciation to volunteers, partners, donors and members whose dedication made 2025 a year of progress and hope.
