The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with satellite operators across Africa following a working visit by its Director-General and CEO, Gregoire Ndjaka, to the headquarters of the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT).
During the visit, Ndjaka was received by NIGCOMSAT Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Jane Egerton-Idehen, alongside members of the company’s executive team.
The meeting focused on opportunities to deepen cooperation in broadcasting, satellite communications and digital connectivity across the continent, with both organisations highlighting the importance of partnerships in expanding access to digital services.
NIGCOMSAT showcased its satellite infrastructure, technical capabilities and the range of solutions supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda. The company also highlighted key achievements, including its role in the successful implementation of Nigeria’s Digital Switch Over (DSO), which has expanded access to digital television services and improved broadcasting coverage in more communities.
According to NIGCOMSAT, discussions underscored the role of innovation and continued investment in space technology in accelerating digital inclusion, strengthening Africa’s broadcasting ecosystem and creating new opportunities for economic growth.
The company reiterated its commitment to leveraging its satellite assets and technical expertise to deliver connectivity solutions that support businesses, communities and governments across Nigeria and the wider African continent.
The visit also reinforced both organisations’ intention to strengthen partnerships aimed at building a more connected and digitally inclusive Africa through enhanced broadcasting and satellite-enabled communications.
