Very interesting article- thanks for uploading. I'm a mixed-race individual (half white, half black). I don't deem the term "mixed-race" as offensive. In fact, it's befitting for a person whose ancestry comprises of two or more races/ethnicities; "Mixed-race" summarises this. I'm not exclusively black; I'm not exclusively white. I'm both simultaneously and honour both races equally. Nowadays, I think the issue we're facing is over-political correctness. "Mixed-race", as a term, is not offensive in comparison to a term like "half-caste". It cannot be denied that the latter is not politically correct, is obsolete, and carries its own negative connotations. Whilst I sympathise with this article's perspective, I urge its writer to consider that, for many, the term "Mixed-race" is used as self-description and not deemed offensive. Also, I don't agree that a specialised term should be used for mixed-race people of white and black descent. "Mixed-race", though it is an umbrella term, is highly associated with people of white and black descent already. Therefore, a specialised term isn't essentially needed.
